Ermie and Gertie are two of our much loved Guernsey cows in our small herd on the farm in Pitney.  They are mother and daughter and have always been favourite characters in the herd, and so it seemed appropriate to use their names on our products.  They are pictured in the orchard on the label of all our products.
  

        All our Guernsey cows roam and graze freely in the orchard in spring and summer, and it is a magical sight to see these docile creatures sheltering under the shade of the apple trees on a warm summer's day.  As summer moves on to early autumn they even enjoy the odd apple from the lower branches of the trees or that fall from the trees early!

        Our orchard is a traditional Somerset orchard containing a wide variety of full standard trees that range in age from over 50 years to under 5 years with varieties such as Lambrook Pippin, Dabinett, Sweet Coppin, Morgan, Bramley, Hoary Morning, Russett, Tom Putt and James Grieve.
  

        We are committed to the regeneration of the orchard by planting new trees to replace dead trees, and adding new trees where space allows without overstocking the orchard.  The orchard is maintained on as close to an organic basis as possible without any tree spraying, but is not currently Soil Association approved.  None of the trees are sprayed and we have bee hives in the orchard to help the natural pollination process of the trees.

        The craft of apple juice and cider making is currently experiencing an exciting revival and a new generation of makers is now emerging.  We are dedicated to encouraging this revival by offering a range of quality natural products made in the traditional way.

        The more we talk to people the more it becomes apparent that there is a significant and growing interest in moving away from mass produced products with unnatural flavours that are so readily available from well known brand names.  Instead people are changing to premium quality, healthier alternatives that have a truly natural taste and are locally produced.
