Painter of landscape and genre. Lived in Winchester and London. Exhib. at RA, 1854-90, BI and SS. Works by him are in Leicester, York and Sunderland AG. Also recorded as living in Winchester are T. Valentine, Valentine Thomas and William Garland, all painters of domestic genre. Graves’s Dictionary lists T. Valentine, Valentine Thomas (q.v.) and T.W. Garland separately, but it seems probable that they are all the same artist.

Although not a picture of animals this is on of our favourite pictures.

Available as a Limited Edition Print or as a Greeting Card.

Bramley (qq.v.), etc. His pictures show identification with their ideas about social realism and plein-air painting, but Hall also pandered to the popular taste for storytelling pictures, e.g. ‘The Result of High Living’, RA, 1892. Exhib. at RA from 1887, SS, GG and NG. Also exhib. in Paris and Venice. Hall was also known for his caricature drawings.
